Origin- Native to Central America and the Caribbean

Kath Champa is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree with thick, fleshy branches and leathery, lance-shaped leaves. The flowers are large, showy, and come in a variety of colors including white, yellow, pink, and red. The flowers have a sweet, intoxicating fragrance and are often used in making leis or as ornamental decorations.

Growing Conditions-

1. Soil Requirement- Kath Champa prefers well-drained soil with good organic content. A sandy loam soil mix is suitable for its growth.

2. Watering- Water the plant deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid overwatering, as it can cause root rot.

3. Temperature Requirement- Kath Champa thrives in tropical and subtropical climates, with temperatures between 20°C to 35°C.It is not frost-tolerant and prefers warm temperatures.

4. Humidity- Kath Champa prefers moderate to low humidity levels for better growth. A humidity range between 40%-50% works well for the plant.

5. Light Requirement- The plant requires full sun to partial shade. It needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day to bloom profusely.

6. Fertilization- Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer during the growing season to promote healthy growth and flowering. Apply phosphorus rich fertilizer to induce more flowering.

7. Flowering- Kath Champa typically blooms from late spring to fall, producing large, fragrant flowers in a variety of colors. The flowers are known for their sweet scent and are often used in traditional ceremonies and for making garlands.
