Dracaena dara Singh also known as corn plant is a popular versatile indoor plant. It features long leaves of vibrant green colour with yellow or cream colour stripes. This low maintenance plant can thrive in low light conditions. This plant is a favourite choice for adding a touch of tropical elegance to indoor spaces due to its easy to care requirements and air purifying quality.

Benefits/Uses- Dracaena plant helps in reducing indoor pollution level and purifies air.

Growing Conditions-

1. Soil- Use a well-drained potting mix suitable for indoor plants. A mix of peat moss, perlite, and/or sand is ideal for Dracaena plants.

2. Watering- Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again, water thoroughly and allow excess water drain away. Avoid overwatering, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot. It's better to slightly underwater than to overwater.

3. Temperature- Dracaena plants thrive in average to warm temperatures between 18°C-30°C.They are sensitive to cold drafts and should be protected from temperatures below 12°C.

4. Humidity- Dracaena plants prefers average household humidity levels. However, they appreciate slightly higher humidity.

5. Light requirements-  Dracaena plants prefer bright, indirect light. They can tolerate lower light conditions, but growth may be slower and leaf color becomes less vibrant in low light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.

6. Fertilization- Fertilize  Dracaena plants with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer in every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). 

7. Flowering- Dracaena Dara Singh plants are grown for their variegated foliage rather than their flowers, which are small and inconspicuous.

8. Important Diseases- Dracaena Dara Singh plants are generally resilient, but they can be susceptible to a few common diseases like root rot and leaf spot. Avoid overwatering and maintain proper sanitation to manage these diseases.

9. Important Pests- Dracaena plant can be affected by common indoor plant pests like spider mites, mealybugs, and scale insects. Regularly inspect the plant and take appropriate measures, such as using insecticidal soap or wiping the leaves with a damp cloth, to control any infestations.

10. Pruning- Prune away yellow or brown leaves to maintain plant health. Pruning is also done to  maintain its desired shape and size. 

11. Propagation- Dracaena plants can be propagated through stem cuttings, air layering, water propagation, or division. Stem cuttings can be rooted in soil or water, while air layering involves encouraging roots to form on a stem before planting. Division is suitable for mature plants.
