Lucky Bamboo is a popular indoor plant with a distinctive appearance. It features slender stalk like stems with vibrant green leaves and it is believed to bring good luck and positive energy according to Feng Shui practices. It is a low maintenance plant and can thrive in various lighting conditions, making it a favourite choice for home and office decoration.

Growing conditions-
1.Soil- Lucky bamboo plants can be grown well in soil as well as in water. Organic matter rich loamy and well drained potting soil is suitable for the plant.
2.Watering-Lucky bamboo is very sensitive to chlorine and other chemical compound like fluorine. Use tap water free from such compounds or use distilled or filtered water. Do not allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again.
3.Temperature-Lucky bamboo prefers warm environments with
average room humidity. Temperature between 15℃- 32℃ is optimum for better growth.
4.Humidity- Lucky Bamboo plant thrives in high humidity above 50%.
5.Light requirements-Lucky Bamboo always prefers bright
filtered light. But it can also do well in low light. Avoid direct sunlight as
it will results in burning of the leaves. If the leaves of the plants become
fade it is due to light stress. Try to give them adequate light.
6.Fertilization- Plants that are grown in water need to be fertilized once in every month with a weak liquid fertilizer and for soil based medium fertilize the plants with organic manure and compost. One can use diluted aquarium water for both water and soil based medium.
7.Flowering- Plants can produce blooms in summer but it is very rare for house plants.
8.Important Diseases- Some diseases of lucky bamboo plant
include Anthracnose, leaf spot, powdery mildew, root and stem rot. Leaf spot shows symptoms like small dark coloured spots with reddish brown margins. Foliage develops small white fungal spots in powdery mildew disease. Brown of black spots or lesions on leaves and stems are seen in anthracnose. These diseases are
more prevalent in overly wet conditions. To get of these diseases remove the
diseased parts from the plant and use a copper based fungicide for best results.
9.Important Pests- Sap sucking insects like mealy bugs and spider mites infest the plant in warm and dry conditions and they also attack the plants which are underwatered.
10. Pruning & Maintenance- Pruning is done in lucky bamboo for several reasons-
-To make the plant bushy.
-To remove old leggy growth to induce basal
growth
-To give the plant a particular shape and to remove the yellow dead leaves.
Change the water in every two weeks and ensure the all the roots are submerged for a water based medium. Repot the plant when the plants show overcrowding of roots.
11. Propagation-Lucky bamboo can be propagated in both water and soil through stem cuttings. Take a stem cutting with at least one node for growing in water and at least 2 nodes for propagating in soil. For soil propagation use loamy soil rich in organic matter or cactus -succulent potting mix.
